About Newberry

Our community is a fast growing, full-service community of over 5,000 residents situated in North Central Florida, near Gainesville and the University of Florida. Residents enjoy the great atmosphere, warm friendly people, and sense of community that you only find in a small town while remaining close to the recreational, cultural, and college town activities offered minutes away in nearby Gainesville.

Newberry’s economy is keeping pace with its growth. While experiencing a modest increase in manufacturing in recent years, the community remains close to its agriculturally based roots. Newberry’s Annual Watermelon Festival is the longest continuously operated festival of its kind in the world.

Newberry offers highly rated schools and world class recreational facilities such as the Easton Newberry

Sports Complex (designated as a Community Olympic Development Program), Champions Park of Newberry, Gatorback Cycle Park, and Canterbury Equestrian Center. Those that love the water appreciate that Newberry is close to the Santa Fe and Suwannee Rivers which feature an abundance of natural springs. In fact, North Central Florida features a higher concentration of springs than anywhere else in the world. The Gulf of Mexico is a short 45 miles to the west and the Atlantic Ocean is 80 miles to the east. Major metropolitan areas Jacksonville, Orlando, and Tampa are all within a 2 hour drive of Newberry.
