Our Mission

To enhance the quality of life for Newberry residents by providing exceptional athletic programming, enhanced parks, and amazing customer service, ensuring that Newberry is a desirable place to live, work, and play.

About Us

The City of Newberry has established itself as a leader in both sports tourism and community recreation by developing high-quality facilities that serve residents and visitors alike. Through strategic partnerships with organizations such as the Easton Sports Development Foundation, Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, Suwannee River Water Management District, Florida Greenways and Trails, Florida Recreation Development Assistance Program, and M2 Battlesports (laser tag), the City has created the Easton-Newberry Sports Complex—one of the region’s premier athletic venues.

In partnership with Alachua County, the City also leveraged local bed tax revenues to develop Champions Park. This state-of-the-art, 16-field baseball and softball complex is recognized as one of the premier tournament destinations in the United States, attracting teams and visitors from across the country. Champions Park plays a key role in driving tourism, economic impact, and national visibility for Newberry.

Equally important is the City’s commitment to providing exceptional recreational opportunities for its residents. Newberry maintains a diverse park system that includes: Lois Forte Park, Jimmy Durden Park, Barry Park, Freddie Warmack Park, Martin Luther King Jr. Community Center, and Central Bark. These facilities support a wide range of programs and activities for children, youth, and adults, enhancing quality of life and fostering community connection.

The Newberry Parks and Recreation Department remains dedicated to delivering accessible, high-quality recreational experiences while continuing to grow and enhance the City’s park system for future generations.
