Important Dates
- OPEN CONDITIONING: Starting Tuesday, July 8th
- Conditioning Dates: Every Tuesday & Thursday from 7-8:30pm
- Conditioning Location: Newberry High School Practice/Track Field
- Season Registration Closes: Monday, July 7th, 2025
- Price: $150
- Ages: 11-14 Oak View Middle School (5th-8th graders)
- Practices: Dates & times are determined by the coach (2-3 times a week)
- Games: Mondays or Tuesdays (depending on JV or Varsity)
- Coaches Meeting: Monday, July 7th, 2025 @ 6:30pm in the Multipurpose Room at ENSC
- Jersey Sizing/Equipment Fitting: Monday, July 14th, 2025 @ 6:00pm in the gymnasium at ENSC
*The player’s age determines Boys Club League age as of August 1st, 2025.*
Required Documents
All players are required to submit the following documents to participate in the Boys & Girls Club (OVMS) Tackle Football Program:
- Copy of birth certificate
- Boys & Girls Club registration & membership form
- Copy of the final grade report from the preceding academic year
- Completed medical physical (EL2 and EL3 forms)
- Newberry Parks & Recreation Registration/Waiver Form
Academic Eligibility
The Boys & Girls Club Football League requires all participants to have a minimum of a 2.0 Grade Point Average (GPA) to participate. A submitted copy of the final grade report from the preceding academic year will determine all participants’ preseason GPAs. A submitted copy of the Interim Academic Report will determine the playoff GPA.
Practice Information
The head coach of each team will determine practice days/times at the coaches’ meeting. Practices take place during the week, starting no earlier than 5 PM and ending no later than 9 PM.
Uniforms/Equipment
At the start of the season, all players will be provided with uniforms and equipment from Newberry Parks & Recreation. This includes a jersey, helmet, shoulder pads, one (1) mouthpiece, and one (1) chin strap.
Practice and game pants will NOT be provided. Game pants must be purchased before the first game. Coaches will decide the pant color.
All equipment (excluding jerseys) provided by Newberry Parks & Recreation must be returned at the end of the season. If not returned, the participant will be responsible for the replacement cost of each item not returned and will be suspended from registering for future sports/events until equipment is either returned or paid for.
Game Information
Middle School players will participate in the Boys & Girls Club Middle School League. The coaches will separate teams into JV and Varsity. Boys & Girls Club games will occur during the week at the NW Boys and Girls Club in Gainesville.
Once a schedule becomes available, all coaches and parents will be emailed a copy.
