City of Newberry Finance Team Earns National Award for Seventh Straight Year

NEWBERRY, FL – The City of Newberry is proud to share that its Finance Department has once again received the Government Finance Officers Association (GFOA) Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the City’s FY2024 Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.

This marks the seventh year in a row Newberry has earned this prestigious recognition—an honor achieved by fewer than 5% of governments nationwide. The Certificate of Achievement is the highest award in governmental accounting and financial reporting and reflects the care, accuracy, and consistency behind the City’s financial work.

For a small city like Newberry, that consistency matters. It means residents can trust that their tax dollars are carefully managed, transparently reported, and responsibly used to serve the community—year after year.

This award is a testament to the dedication of Newberry’s Finance team and their commitment to keeping our City on strong financial footing while meeting the highest national standards. “The professionalism and excellence that comes out of our Finance Department is second to none, and their track record speaks for itself.
